The Wirral Plumbers & Boiler Installers

The Wirral peninsula runs from the dockside terraces of Birkenhead and Wallasey to the coastal villages of West Kirby, Hoylake and Heswall. We cover the CH postcodes for boiler repairs, servicing and fixed-price new boiler installations.

    Our The Wirral coverage area

Covering CH41–CH49, CH60–CH63 in Merseyside and every neighbourhood listed below.

New boilers across the Wirral peninsula

The Wirral packs an extraordinary range of property types into a small peninsula, and boiler specification changes noticeably as you cross it. The dense Victorian terraces of Birkenhead, Tranmere, Rock Ferry, Seacombe and Egremont are typically single-bathroom homes where a well-sited 24kW–28kW combi transforms both running costs and available space, especially when it lets us remove a redundant loft tank and cylinder. Move south and west and the picture changes entirely: the large detached homes of Heswall, Gayton, Caldy, Thurstaston and Lower Heswall regularly have three or more bathrooms, and a system boiler paired with a correctly sized unvented cylinder is the only sensible way to serve them.

In the middle sit the solid inter-war and post-war semis of Bebington, Bromborough, Prenton, Oxton, Upton, Greasby and Moreton — the Wirral's combi heartland, where a 30kW unit and a decent set of controls does everything a family needs. Coastal Wirral adds the same salt problem Southport faces: exposed flue terminals and external condensate runs at Hoylake, Meols, West Kirby, New Brighton and Leasowe weather much faster than inland, so we specify stainless fixings and insulate every external pipe run as standard.

Mains water flow is the other Wirral-specific check. Flow varies widely across the peninsula, and a combi that performs perfectly in Wallasey can disappoint in an elevated property at Storeton or Barnston. We test flow rate on site before recommending a combi, never after. Every Wirral quote is fixed-price and includes the boiler, flue, magnetic filter, chemical flush, carbon monoxide detector, controls and manufacturer registration.

Boiler repairs, servicing and safety certificates

Wirral breakdown calls follow the seasons. Autumn brings the boilers that were switched off all summer and will not fire; deep winter brings frozen condensate pipes on the exposed western side of the peninsula around Hoylake, Meols and West Kirby. In between we handle diverter valve failures, pressure loss, pump seizures, fan faults and PCB failures across Birkenhead, Wallasey, Bebington and Heswall. Diagnosis is charged at our standard call-out rate with no weekend surcharge, and we carry Worcester Bosch, Vaillant, Baxi, Ideal and Glow-worm spares.

Annual servicing keeps a manufacturer warranty intact and, on the coast, gives us a yearly look at salt damage to the flue and casing. Wirral landlords can combine servicing with a CP12 gas safety certificate on a single visit, issued digitally the same day.

    Plumbing on the Wirral

Our Wirral plumbing work covers leaks and burst pipes, tap and toilet replacement, radiator and valve changes, stopcock renewal, outside taps, blocked wastes and full bathroom pipework. Older Birkenhead and Wallasey terraces still hide lead supply pipe and cast-iron waste, while larger Heswall and Caldy properties more often need long external runs re-lagged after a hard winter.

The Wirral is the furthest point of our regular North West coverage, reached via the M58 and M53, so Wirral work is scheduled into planned days rather than offered as an immediate emergency call-out. We will always be straight with you about timing before you book.

    Our work across The Wirral

From a dripping tap to a full boiler swap, The Wirral is covered day to day by the same small team. The three tabs below explain how each job is handled and what it involves.

    Your Plumber Across the Wirral

When water turns up somewhere it shouldn't in The Wirral, the priority is isolating it fast. Our engineers work CH41–CH49, CH60–CH63 and carry the fittings for the common jobs — pipe repairs, tap and toilet swaps, radiator valves, stopcocks — so most calls are finished on the first visit. Bathroom fit-outs and sewer work aren't part of what we offer.

We cover the CH postcodes for leaks, bursts, taps, toilets, radiators and immersion work — Birkenhead, Wallasey, Prenton, Oxton, Bebington, Heswall, Greasby, West Kirby and Hoylake.

Dockside terraces in Birkenhead and Wallasey often still run original supply pipework in cellars and voids, while the exposed coastal side of the peninsula loses more unlagged external and loft pipework to hard frosts each winter. Both are worth checking before the cold sets in rather than after.

If something has started leaking in the Wirral, we deal with the repair side of plumbing right across the CH postcodes. Typical calls are emergency pipe repairs, running toilets, radiator valves and stopcock renewals. We purposely leave full bathroom refurbishments and sewer drainage to others. Staying specialised is what keeps our response times short and our prices fixed and agreed in advance around the Wirral.

How an emergency call is handled

    1. 1
      Isolate

First job is stopping the water. We'll talk you through finding the stopcock while the engineer is en route.

    2. 2
      Assess

Where the water has travelled matters as much as where it came from — ceilings and electrics get checked.

    3. 3
      Repair

Proper repair rather than a temporary patch, using parts carried on the van wherever possible.

    4. 4
      Advise

We'll flag anything else on the system that's likely to fail next, so you're not calling us again in a fortnight.

The Wirral plumbing work questions, answered

How quickly can a plumber get to me in The Wirral?

Anything actively leaking gets moved to the front of the queue — a burst pipe in Thingwall or water coming through a ceiling in Upton is a same-day job wherever the diary allows. Slower problems like a dripping tap or a radiator that never quite warms up are usually booked in within a couple of working days at a time that suits you.

What should I do before the engineer arrives?

Shut the water off at the internal stopcock and turn off any immersion heater or electric shower on that circuit. Clear a path to the pipework, the meter and the loft hatch if you can. Photos sent over when you book help enormously — half the time they tell us which part to load before we set off for Oxton.

Which parts of The Wirral do you cover?

The whole of CH41–CH49, CH60–CH63, on the same rate. Thingwall, Upton and Oxton are no different to the town centre — there's no outer-area surcharge and no reduced service. If you're not sure your street falls inside the patch, read us the postcode and we'll confirm before you commit to anything.

    • Emergency leaks and bursts

Burst pipes, weeping joints, leaking radiators and overflowing tanks — we isolate, make safe and repair properly rather than patching.

    • Older properties handled properly

Lead tails, imperial pipework and painted-over stopcocks are normal in the Thingwall and Upton housing stock. We come prepared for them.

    • Taps, toilets and radiators

Tap swaps, toilet replacements, radiator valves, ball valves and immersion elements, left tidy and working first time.

    • Based near The Wirral

We work out of Coppull, so CH41–CH49, CH60–CH63 is a short run rather than a regional dispatch. That is the difference between the same day and next week.
